Why a structure .nbt will not open in Litematica
A structure block writes a gzip NBT file with size, palette, blocks, and optional entities. Litematica looks for a Metadata compound, a Regions map, and bit-packed BlockStates. Both files store the same blocks. The containers are different, so a renamed download sits in the schematics folder and never appears in Load Schematics. What this page writes
The converter copies every block and its state, the Minecraft data version, and block-entity data such as chest contents and sign text. Item frames, armor stands, and paintings are not carried; the preview tells you how many were skipped. Several structure pieces become one Litematica region. It does not upgrade blocks between game versions, so convert a 1.21.4 structure for a 1.21.4 client.
Going the other way, to a structure block instead of a hologram, is litematic to nbt. A WorldEdit paste uses a .schem: litematic to schem. The hub that picks any pair is the schematic converter.
After you convert
- Copy the .litematic into the schematics folder of the instance you launch.
- In game press M, open Load Schematics, pick the file and create a placement.

FAQ
Can I convert an .nbt to a .litematic in the browser?
Yes, on this page. The file is read with the browser file API and rewritten here. Close the tab and nothing stays on our side.
Is this the Create mod schematic format?
No. This converter reads vanilla Java structure-block NBT (the file a structure block or /place template uses). Create’s Schematicannon uses its own NBT layout. If the tags are not a structure file, conversion stops with an error instead of writing a broken hologram.
Will Litematica load a renamed .nbt?
No. Renaming changes only the name. The NBT inside a structure file is a size, a palette, and a block array that Litematica does not read as a region. Convert it. Open the load guide.
Is there a size limit?
No. Conversion is free for builds of any size. A structure block itself cannot load more than 48 blocks on a side; the hologram does not have that 48-block cap.
