Minecraft schematic converter

Convert Java Edition schematics between .litematic (Litematica), .schem (Sponge, WorldEdit and FAWE) and structure .nbt (structure blocks). The file is read and written inside this tab. Free for builds up to 5,000 blocks; $9.99 once removes the limit.

Convert in your browser.litematic, .schem (Sponge v1-3) and structure .nbt, in any direction. Your file is read here and never uploaded.

.litematic, .schem or .nbt, up to 60 MB

What it converts

FormatUsed byReadWrite
.litematicLitematica (Fabric)Versions 5 to 7, several regions merged into oneVersion 6, one region
.schemWorldEdit, FAWESponge versions 1, 2 and 3Sponge version 2
.nbtStructure blocks, datapacksVanilla structure filesVanilla structure file, air included

Pick any pair. A .litematic goes to .schem for a server with WorldEdit, a .schem goes to .litematic for a survival hologram, and either goes to .nbt for a structure block. The two directions most people search for have their own pages: litematic to schem and schem to litematic.

What is kept and what is not

  • Kept: every block and its state (stairs facing, door halves, waterlogging), the palette, the size, the Minecraft data version, and block entity data.
  • Merged: a .litematic with several regions becomes one region that covers all of them. Region names are not kept.
  • Dropped: entities, pending block ticks, and the Litematica placement settings stored in the mod rather than in the file.
  • Not done: no version upgrade, no rotation, no Bedrock .mcstructure, no pre-1.13 .schematic. Rotation and mirroring happen in game: rotate in Litematica.

How it works

All three formats are gzip-compressed NBT. The converter decompresses the file with the browser's built-in gzip, parses the NBT, and unpacks the blocks into one grid. A .litematic stores indices in a bit-packed long array whose entries can straddle two longs. A Sponge .schem stores one varint per block. A structure .nbt stores a list of positions with palette indices. The converter reads each into the same grid, then writes the grid in the format you picked. Differences between the formats are in litematic vs schem.

We checked it against files written by other tools: a multi-region .litematic made with the litemapy library (including a region with negative size) reads back block for block, and our output loads in litemapy and nbtlib with identical blocks. Please still test a converted file in a copy of your world before you rely on it.

Pricing, plainly

Builds up to 5,000 non-air blocks are free, every time, no sign-up. A larger build shows its preview and block list, then asks for Pro to download. Pro is $9.99 one time, paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on a hosted checkout. Refund: if a converted file does not open in current Litematica or WorldEdit for Java 1.21, email hello@minecraftschematicgenerator.com with the file within 7 days. See pricing.

If you want a build from scratch instead of converting one, the generator writes both files from a typed prompt.

FAQ

Is my schematic uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read with your browser’s file API and converted in the page. The only requests this tool makes are the page itself and, if you buy Pro, the checkout. Close the tab and nothing remains on our side.

What does the free version do?

It converts any build up to 5,000 non-air blocks, in any direction, with no account. For a bigger build you still get the full preview, size and block list, but the download is locked until Pro.

What does Pro cost and what does it change?

$9.99 once, not a subscription. It removes the 5,000-block limit on the converter and raises the generator to 48 blocks on a side and 80 builds a day.

Does it convert old .schematic files?

No. A .schematic from MCEdit, Schematica or WorldEdit 6 stores numeric block ids from Minecraft 1.12 and earlier. The converter tells you so when you drop one. It reads .litematic, .schem (Sponge versions 1 to 3) and structure .nbt.

Does it update blocks to a newer Minecraft version?

No. Block states are copied exactly and the data version of the source file is kept. A 1.20 build opened in a 1.21 client usually works for common blocks, but renamed or changed blocks are not fixed up.

Are chests, signs and other block entities kept?

Yes. Block entity data such as chest contents and sign text is carried across all three formats. Entities such as item frames, armor stands and paintings are not carried over, and the converter shows how many were skipped.
