Litematica not working

Most “Litematica not working” reports are a folder, a file extension, or a mod version. The generator already wrote a real version 6 .litematic. This page is the load path, not a second download.

1. Confirm the download ends in .litematic, not .litematic.txt and not .schem.
2. Put that file in the schematics folder of the instance you actually launch.
3. Launch Java Edition with Fabric, MaLiLib, and Litematica all built for the same version.
4. Open a world, press M, and use Load Schematics. The menu does not exist on the title screen.
5. If the file still fails, match the client to Java 1.21.4, which is the data version these files use.

The file the browser actually saved

Click Download .litematic on the generator. The name looks like oak-house.litematic. Windows and some browsers hide extensions and append .txt, so the file on disk is oak-house.litematic.txt. Litematica does not list that. Turn extensions on, or rename so the name ends in .litematic once. Do not rename a .schem to .litematic. They are different containers. If you wanted a hologram and downloaded the WorldEdit button, go back to the result and take the .litematic. Both files come from the same generate. See schem to litematic.

A 0-byte file means the download was interrupted. Generate again. The compile for the same prompt and the same plan (free or Pro) is the same grid, so you are not losing a unique design.

Wrong folder, empty list

Litematica reads schematics inside the game directory of the instance that is running. The vanilla launcher uses:

• Windows: %appdata%\.minecraft\schematics
• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/schematics
• Linux: ~/.minecraft/schematics

CurseForge, Modrinth App, Prism, and ATLauncher do not use that global folder. Open the instance you press Play on, then open its folder, then schematics. Create the folder if the first launch did not. Nested folders are fine. A file sitting in Downloads, on the Desktop, or in saves will not appear. The full path list is the import guide.

After you drop the file in, click the refresh control in Load Schematics or reopen the menu. You do not need to restart the whole launcher if you were already in the right instance, but you do need to be in a world. The M menu is not on the title screen.

MaLiLib missing, or the wrong loader

Litematica does not run by itself. The supported path for files from this site is Minecraft Java with the Fabric loader, the MaLiLib mod, and Litematica, all built for the same game version. If any one of those is for a different version, Fabric refuses the jar and the M key does nothing because the mod is not there.

A Forge-only or NeoForge-only instance will not load the Fabric jars this guide uses. Checklogs/latest.log in the instance for “incompatible” or a missing MaLiLib dependency. Install steps are on how to install Litematica.

Version 6 and data version 4189

Files from this site set Litematica Version 6, SubVersion 1, and MinecraftDataVersion 4189. That data version is Java Edition 1.21.4. Block ids are modern names such as minecraft:cherry_planks or minecraft:deepslate_bricks, with properties on stairs, slabs, doors, and glass panes.

An older Litematica, or a 1.20.1 / 1.19 client, can fail the load or drop blocks it does not know. Cherry, bamboo mosaic pieces, tinted glass, and the 1.21 block set are the usual trip. Use a 1.21.4 Fabric instance when you open these holograms. The site does not write the old numeric-id .schematic format from the 1.12 era, and it does not write Bedrock .mcstructure. If you are on a console, phone, or Windows Bedrock, the file is supposed to fail. That split is Java vs Bedrock.

It loaded, but you cannot see the hologram

Load Schematics only reads the file. You still place it. Select the file, load it, then use the placement tool (often a stick, unless you changed it) and confirm the placement. Open the placement configuration and check that rendering is enabled. A placement from another world does not follow you; each world keeps its own list.

If the ghost is underground or one chunk away, the origin is the minimum corner of the region, at 0,0,0 inside the file. Nudge X, Y, and Z in the placement configuration. Rotation is also in that menu, not a new download. See move and rotate.

A blank material list means there is no placed hologram yet, or the HUD is disabled. The counts on this website are the full recipe before you place a single block. Details: material list.

What is not a broken file

Easy place doing nothing is usually the wrong item in your hand, or the block is out of reach. The mod does not grant blocks. Layer mode hiding every floor except one is a render setting, not a corrupt schematic. A house that has no interior rooms is what the house kernel builds: shell, door, windows, roof, lanterns. Change the prompt using prompt tips if the shape itself is wrong. Do not keep re-downloading the same file into the wrong folder.
