Litematic to nbt converter

Turn a Litematica .litematic into a vanilla structure .nbt that a structure block or /place template can load. It runs in this tab, nothing is uploaded, and it is free with no size limit.

Convert in your browser.litematic, .schem (Sponge v1-3) and structure .nbt, in any direction. Your file is read here and never uploaded.

Drop a schematic here

.litematic, .schem or .nbt, up to 60 MB. Drop several files to convert them all at once.

Why you convert instead of renaming

Litematica stores regions, a bit-packed block array, and hologram metadata. A structure block wants size, a palette, and a list of block positions. The blocks are the same idea. The tags are not, so changing the extension does nothing. This page re-encodes the grid as a vanilla structure file, including air, which a structure block needs in order to clear and fill the box.

You can also export Vanilla Structure from Litematica’s Schematic Manager without leaving the game. That path, the 48-block cap, and Load mode are on load a .nbt with a structure block. Use this converter when you do not have the mod open, or when the file came from the generator rather than a world save.

After the download

  1. Drop the .nbt in generated/minecraft/structure/ inside the world, or in a datapack structure folder.
  2. Give yourself a structure block in Creative (/give @s structure_block), set Load, type the name, click Load once to preview, then again to place.
  3. Or run /place template minecraft:NAME. Rotation and mirror are flags on that command, not on the converted file.

Need a hologram in survival instead? Stay on the nbt to litematic direction, or skip conversion and load the original .litematic. For a WorldEdit //paste, write a .schem with litematic to schem.

What is kept

Block states (stair facing, door halves, waterlogging), the data version of the source, and block-entity data such as chests and signs. Entities are skipped and counted in the preview. Multi-region litematics are flattened to one box; gaps become air. The converter does not remap blocks to a newer Minecraft version.

The converter is free, with no size limit and no account.

FAQ

Can a structure block open a .litematic?

No. A structure block reads vanilla structure NBT. Litematica’s file is a different gzip NBT layout. Convert it, or export Vanilla Structure from the Schematic Manager in game.

Does this write a Create mod schematic?

No. The download is a vanilla Java structure file. Create’s Schematicannon will not treat it as one of its own schematics. Use it with a structure block, a datapack, or /place template.

How big can the .nbt be?

The converter is free with no block limit. Independently, a structure block accepts at most 48×48×48. If any side is over 48, the page still lets you download, but you have to split the build before the game will load it.

Where does the file go in the world?

saves/WORLD/generated/NAMESPACE/structure/NAME.nbt. With no namespace the game uses minecraft. Data packs can also hold data/NAMESPACE/structure. Older versions used a folder named structures.
