What the pyramid kernel builds

Typing pyramid in a prompt picks the pyramid kernel. Layer zero fills the whole footprint. Each layer above it fills a rectangle one block smaller on every side, so the walls rise at a constant one-block step. Layers alternate between the palette’s wall block and its accent block, which gives the banded look you see on desert pyramids. A sandstone prompt uses cut sandstone and chiseled sandstone. It is solid because the kernel fills every cell inside each rectangle. That makes it a heavy material list for its size. A 15×8×15 pyramid is 679 blocks. Compare that with a hollow house of the same width. If you want a hollow version, place the hologram and dig the room yourself, or choose a smaller base.

Sizing

Steps are limited by the height you ask for and by half the shorter footprint side, rounded down. A 15×15 base has room for seven steps, so a height of 8 leaves one empty layer on top. An 11×11 base has five. Asking for a taller box does not make a taller pyramid, because the top ends once the rectangle shrinks to a point. If you want it taller, widen the base. Build it

In Litematica, the load step is the same as for any file. A pyramid is a good fit for layer mode, because each layer is a flat rectangle and you fill it row by row.
