Litematica on Forge and NeoForge

Litematica is a Fabric mod. If your pack runs on Forge or NeoForge, the Fabric jars will not load there, and the usual options are a port or a second Fabric instance. This page sorts the three cases using the mod pages as they stood on 2026-10-02.

  1. Check which loader your instance uses: Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge.
  2. On Fabric, install Litematica and MaLiLib for your Minecraft version.
  3. On Forge or NeoForge, install the third-party port Forgematica and its library MaFgLib instead.
  4. Match the Minecraft version exactly, and use the same site for both files.
  5. Start the game, press M, and load a .litematic from the schematics folder.

Which loader gets what

LoaderWhat to installNotes
FabricLitematica + MaLiLibThe original mod. Modrinth lists Fabric builds up to Minecraft 26.3
ForgeForgematica + MaFgLibThird-party port, builds for 1.16.4 to 1.20.1
NeoForgeForgematica + MaFgLibThird-party port, builds from 1.20 through 26.2 (26.x marked beta)

What “third-party port” means for you

Forgematica is not the original author’s release. It is a separate project with its own issue tracker, and the original mod’s page points to it as the option for later Forge versions. It describes itself as a client-side schematic mod with creative extras, such as schematic pasting, area cloning, moving, filling, and deletion. Its page also notes that rendering does not currently work properly with shaders on 1.21.3 and later, so turn shaders off while you build. Behaviour and defaults can differ from what the pages on this site describe, so treat the hotkeys and option names here as Fabric Litematica’s.

Do you need to switch packs?

If you only build with a schematic occasionally, a separate Fabric instance is the least fragile choice, because every guide on this site assumes it. Build there, then play your Forge pack as usual. The install steps are on how to install Litematica, and the missing library error is covered in MaLiLib missing.

After it loads

Both versions are client-side only, so a server does not need them. Put the file in the schematics folder and follow how to load a .litematic. If the menu does not open or the hologram does not show, use schematic not showing. To make a file to test with, use the generator. It writes a plain .litematic for Java 1.21.4.

FAQ

Is there a Litematica for Forge or NeoForge?

Not from the original author for modern versions. Litematica targets Fabric on Minecraft 1.14 and later. Its Modrinth page lists a Forge build only for 1.12.2 and a 1.16.5 development build. For newer Forge and NeoForge, there is a separate port called Forgematica.

What does Forgematica need?

Its library, MaFgLib, which is the MaLiLib port for Forge and NeoForge. Both are client-side mods. Install them for the same Minecraft version.

Which Minecraft versions does Forgematica cover?

On 2026-10-02 its Modrinth page listed Forge builds from 1.16.4 to 1.20.1 and NeoForge builds from 1.20 up to 26.2. The 26.x NeoForge builds were marked beta. Check the file list for your exact version.

Can I put the Fabric jar in a Forge mods folder?

No. A Fabric mod does not load on Forge or NeoForge, so the instance ignores it. Use the Forgematica files for that loader, or make a Fabric instance.

Will a .litematic from this site load in Forgematica?

It is a port of the same mod and loads the same file type, so a .litematic should open the same way. This site tests against Litematica on Fabric. If a file does not appear, check the schematics folder and the version first.
