How to Move a Schematic in Litematica

Hold the stick in Schematic Placement mode, hold Left Alt, and scroll. The placement moves one block along the direction you are looking. To skip the scroll, type Origin on Configure Schematic placement.

Generate a .litematic

Steps

Select the placement: M+P, then click the row until it has the white outline, or middle-click the hologram while Schematic Placement mode is active.
Hold the tool item. The default is a stick (minecraft:stick). M+T toggles the tool. Scroll will not nudge while the tool is off or the stick is not in your hand.
Hold Left Control and scroll until the tool mode is Schematic Placement. Area Selection nudges the selection box, not the house.
Leave all rendering on. M+R toggles it, and the nudge handler checks that flag. Close any GUI; scroll is ignored while a screen is open.
Hold Left Alt and scroll. The placement moves one block along the closest direction you are looking, including up and down.
For an exact coordinate, press Numpad Minus and edit Origin. Clicking with the tool in Schematic Placement mode also sets that origin where you click.
Set Locked when the ghost sits. Unlock before the next edit. A per-axis lock keeps one coordinate fixed while the other two still move.

Left Alt is selectionNudgeModifier. The hover text on a single-axis lock describes locking that axis so the others still move. A fully locked placement refuses later edits until you unlock it, and remove asks you to hold Shift if you delete it anyway. Files from this site put the region at 0, 0, 0, so the floor you see is the minimum corner, not the center of the house.

After a rotate or a mirror

Rotation and mirror pivot on that same corner, so the hologram can orbit off the plot even though the click worked. Nudge or type Origin after the turn. The quarter-turn control is how to rotate schematics in Litematica. A flip that swung the door to the far side of the corner is how to mirror a schematic.

If the ghost was never on screen, fix rendering before you edit an origin you cannot see: schematic not showing. An origin a hundred blocks away looks the same as a missing hologram until Configure shows the numbers.

Is there a keyboard nudge without the scroll wheel?

Yes, once you bind them. nudgeSelectionNegative and nudgeSelectionPositive ship unbound on the 1.21.4 build. They are the keyboard form of the Alt+scroll step. Set them under M+C, Hotkeys.

Why did Alt+scroll change the selection size?

The modifier follows the tool mode. Area Selection edits the box. Switch to Schematic Placement, still holding the stick, before you scroll.

The origin walks through a wall one block at a time.

Each scroll notch is one block along your look direction. Type X, Y, and Z on the Origin control when you already know the corner, then lock the placement.
