Litematica prompt tips

The box on the Minecraft schematic generator is not a chat. It is a short spec: one shape, one palette, one size. A longer sentence does not add rooms. These tips match the compiler that writes the .litematic, not a generic AI image tool.

1. Name one shape: house, tower, castle, farm, bridge, wall, pyramid, dome, arch, fountain, portal, circle, or platform.
2. Name one palette: oak, spruce, cherry, stone brick, deepslate, sandstone, nether, and the other woods listed below.
3. Add a size as width×height×depth, such as 13x9x11, or a word such as small. Two digits maximum.
4. Generate on the homepage. Download the .litematic for a hologram, or the .schem if you will paste with WorldEdit.

One shape word, and the first match wins

The scanner walks a fixed list and stops at the first hit. Later words never override it. That is why a prompt that mentions two buildings usually becomes the one that appears earlier in the list, not the one you typed last.

“Spruce cabin” is a house, because cabin is in the house list and cabin also selects the spruce palette. “Farmhouse” and “barn” are the farm kernel, not the house kernel. “Nether brick house” is a house in the nether-brick palette, because “nether brick” is not the phrase “nether portal”.

Palette words

After the shape is chosen, a second list picks the blocks. The first matching palette wins, so order matters here too. Woods: oak, spruce, birch, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, bamboo. Stone sets: stone brick (also selected by the words castle, keep, fort, or tower if no earlier palette matched), deepslate, nether, prismarine, sandstone, quartz.

Practical pairs that stay consistent: “spruce tower” is a spruce lookout, because spruce is checked before the stone default that the word tower would otherwise trigger. “Cherry house” is cherry planks, logs, stairs, and a door. “Desert pyramid” is sandstone, because desert and pyramid both map to that palette. “Ocean” or “monument” maps to prismarine even if the shape falls through to a house. “Modern” or “white mansion” maps to quartz. If you name no material, the palette is oak.

The palette swaps the whole kit: walls, floor, roof, frame, glass, stairs, slabs, door, and lantern. It does not let you request “oak walls and a deepslate roof” as two materials. Say the one material you want the kernel to use.

Size: numbers, words, and the two-digit trap

Three numbers become width, height, and depth, in that order. “13x9x11 oak house” is 13 wide, 9 tall, 11 deep. The “x” characters are ignored; only the digits matter. Two numbers set width and depth, and height becomes about three quarters of the smaller one. One number sets width and depth, and height is about 70 percent of that number.

Only one- or two-digit numbers count, and each number has to be from 3 to 64 before the cap. “100” is read as 10, because the scanner takes “10” and drops the leftover 0. “1000” is not a thousand-block build. If you want the largest legal size, type 20 on the free plan or 48 on Pro, not a three-digit wish.

Size words, used when no number is present: tiny 8, small 11, medium 16, large 22, huge 32, mega 40. Those values are then clamped. Free plans cannot exceed 20 on any side, so large, huge, and mega all become 20 until you unlock Pro. Pro clamps at 48, so mega stays 40 and a typed 48 stays 48. Width and depth will not go below 5. Height will not go below 3. Castles are nudged up to at least 15 on width and depth when the cap allows, because the turret kernel needs the room.

What the file will never contain

The compiler fills a voxel grid with ordinary blocks and writes Litematica version 6 plus a Sponge v2 .schem. Entity lists and block-entity lists are empty. You will not get a chest with loot, a sign with text, an item frame, a mob, or a banner pattern. Stairs, slabs, doors, glass panes, and fences do have facing data, because the kernels place them that way. Redstone dust, repeaters, observers, and hoppers are not part of any kernel. A sentence about an auto-sorter or a guardian farm is still just a shape plus a palette.

Wheat on the farm kernel is always wheat at age 7, not carrots or potatoes. The Nether portal kernel uses obsidian and portal blocks, not a ruined portal with crying obsidian. Houses get a door, glass, a gable roof, lanterns, and a loft only when the wall is tall enough. If you need a different interior, treat the hologram as a shell and finish it by hand.

Generate those on the text to litematic page or the homepage. Then import the .litematic. If the list in-game is empty, use the not working checklist before you rewrite the prompt. The download name is a slug of the palette and shape, such as oak-house.litematic.
